Highways Systems Ltd have recently installed 5.5Km of solar studs at 10-20 metre spacings along Spur and Duck Creek Road for Rodney District Council.

The road acts as the only route in and out for the growing population in Still Water.
A significantly higher crash record in the last few years along these two roads compared to surrounding roads in the area has seen the council respond by taking action and installing close to 1300 solar studs as well as other safety enhancements.

The Astucia SolarLite™ Intelligent Road Studs are aimed at improving night time delineation providing advanced warning of hazards and the nature of the road ahead. The Solar Studs are visible up to 1km ahead in a straight line and have proven to reduce accidents, improve driver behaviour and vehicle lane positioning.

The site will be monitored over the next 6 months with before and after studies made available for perfromance evaluation.
